Family sessions are usually 60% logistics and 40% photography — getting everyone looking, smiling and not blinking at the same moment is the real skill. We work fast (kids have a 30-minute attention span at best), we break the session into bite-sized setups, and we use tested techniques to get genuine smiles instead of forced ones. The whole studio is designed to keep small kids interested for the time we need them to be: warm, calm, with snacks within reach. Families come to us from Maldon, Witham, Braintree, Wickford and Rayleigh, and the indoor studio means no weather worries whichever direction you're travelling from.
From enquiry to delivery — here's exactly how the process runs.
Weekends fill fast — most families book 4–6 weeks ahead, especially in Q4 for Christmas-card season. Daytime slots work best for younger kids.
One week before, we send a 'what to wear' guide. The short version: coordinate without matching, neutral tones, no busy logos.
60 minutes paced for the youngest in the family. Snacks welcome, dogs welcome, grandparents welcome. We work the room, you have fun.
No upsells in the small print. The headline rate covers the kit and the room — add-ons are listed separately and you only pay for what you book.
Got the whole extended family — 14 of us across three generations — into one frame and everyone looking at the camera. Plus a separate set of just-the-kids shots that actually look natural. Will be back.
